No matter how late it got, it was never truly dark in Midicity.

There were countless lights, stuck to the walls of buildings, twinkling high up in the sky. Bright TV screens made the rain soaked streets glow, the neon lights bathing every person in colour in exchange for the obscured stars.

Uiui watched Sumomone as she moved the scarf around her neck to wrap tighter around herself in the evening cold.

Done with her adjustments, she looked up, finally noticing Uiui’s eyes on her. The glow of blue, pink, yellow and green lights danced on her skin as a big sign flashed beside them.

She tilted her head to the side, her ears perking up in curiosity.

Leaning closer, Uiui’s lips captured hers, a happy trill escaping Sumomone’s throat.

“What was that for?, she asked, the smile on her face wide.

Uiui took her hands in hers, running her thumbs across her knuckles. She leaned forward to press another kiss to her lips, cold from the chill in the late fall night.

She could feel Sumomone smile into the kiss, wrapping her arms around her shoulders. She rested her hands at the small of Sumomone’s back.

As the rain started to fall again, they stood there, lost to anything and everything going on around them, bathing in the bright neon lights.
